Lilybreeze Lilybreeze sat alone inside the nursery, her creamy colored pelt glistened even in the dimness of the den. Her pale grey mask made her striking blue eyes stand out even more. The pretty female sighed softly, this was the only place she got any alone time, not that she minded company now and then, but she like time to just be herself and talk to her unborn kits. Her eyes were droopy seeing as the queen had just woken up, giving a soft yawn she slowly glanced aroun the milk scented den. Light streamed in from the entrance as day time approached. Lily lifting a paw to her lips, drawing her tongue over it quickly before over her face and repeating it with the other paw, but over her ears. Stretching out her paws in all directions, she slowly got to her paws.
Her stomach was bulging with the kits who were soon to come into this world. Thinking of them gave the female pleasure, though she was disappointed in some ways. She had always saw herself with Barkstar, but alas he had chosen Sandswallow over her, and had a kit already, his only son Earthpaw. Who greatly resembled his father in looks, but he had his mothers eyes. Personality wise Earthpaw was unique and she couldn't help but still adore the tom cat though he was in no way related to her. Lifting her blue gaze to the entrance she thought about the warmth of the sun, and how cold it had been that night. Since it was only her heat in here. She walked, and slightly wobbled her way out of the den. She knew she did not carry a large litter of kits, but still enough to make it slightly difficult to walk to quickly.
Poking her head from the den, she glanced around the camp. Seeing that already a few cats were out and about. She noticed that Earthpaw was already leaving camp. The thought of Barkstar filled her thoughts until she had to painfully put them away. He was only a friend, she had to accept that. Taking a breath she moved a little ways from the nursery. Sitting down, her plump belly easily visible from this view, though it was always visible since a few moons ago. Her paws hurt from the extra weight, but she sucked it up, she was always strong in that way. She tilted her gaze towards the sky, seeing the clear blue of it shining down upon the camp. Her tail flicked easily over her paws, the beautiful plume to it looked feather like as it landed elegantly on her paws.
Overall, Lilybreeze had an elegant look to her, her head always held high even though she was exhausted. Turning her head towards the warrior den she had wondered if Wingedheart had already left on potrol, since Wingedheart was the one cat, besides Dogshadow who visited her. Thinking of the tom cat she was surprised her....mate... was not already out here. Watching her with his intese eyes and glaring at any tom who even glanced in her direction. She shook her head in thought, that tom had serious control issues and she often felt more like an object of his than an equal. It couldnt be helped, and they often fought because Lily wanted to branch out more and spend some time with Wingedheart. She closed her eyes letting her body relax with the warmth of the morning sun. Reopening her eyes she turned her head to lick at her chest a few times, making it glossy and soft. Even for an expecting queen, Lily still regained her beauty and poise even with her swollen stomach.

There wasn't much he disliked more than hunting patrols. For such a big cat who found it normal to tower over other cats, Dogshadow was extraordinarily dexterous and graceful, making him a very dangerous fighter. But there wasn't anything he despised more than a rabbit or squirrel making a fool out of him when he was trying to hunt. He swore that Wingedheart put him on hunting patrols just to keep him away from the borders so he wouldn't start anything. The last he'd had a good fight.. Starclan, that'd been a while ago. And it'd been over a border thing too, though no one knew that it was him, not the Shadowclan cat, who had been on the wrong side of the scent markers. He sent that cat home in a hurry and no one was the wiser, except Wingedheart, who seemed to suspect him of everything little thing that went wrong. That little pest. His tail switched angrily as he trotted into camp, carrying his single catch of the day.
Everyone else on the patrol had caught themselves at least two animals, and the leader of their patrol had managed to catch himself a prize of four mice. And he hadn't stopped talking about it, even sending Dogshadow potent looks all throughout the hunt, as if taunting him. Of course, the black and white tom hadn't been able to keep himself from snapping at the other cat, which had caused yet another arguement and ended up with Dogshadow splitting off from the patrol. He'd found himself a rabbit and had performed admirably, though the others hadn't seen it, of course. They had already headed back to camp, probably whining about his lack of cooperation and all that foxdung. Like he gave a crap what those stupid mousebrains thought. They were too scared to say anything to his face, the lousy warriors. None of them had any guts and it made him sick thinking about their lack of backbone.
Making a few more faces, the giant tom strode over to the fresh-kill pile and dropped his catch on it, flicking glances left and right in case anyone wanted to share their opinions about his small catch, but no one was around, so he picked the rabbit back up, as well as two mice, and headed for the nursery, where he knew his mate would be. A tinge of real affection squirmed into his belly, where he ignored it, like the irritating butthole that he was. Lilybreeze was the closest thing he had to a family, and her ktis would his family, thus making himself a place in Thunderclan, for his kits would be the strongest warriors this forest had ever seen, he'd make sure of it. Dogshadow's shoulders thrust forward in pride as he ducked into the nursery and almost ran into Lilybreeze. "Whoa, hey there, gorgeous." He meowed, dropping the rabbit in front of her and running a rough tongue over her shoulder in greeting. "You been feeling all right?" Was his clumsy attempt at concern.

Lilybreeze Lily took this chance to enjoy the silence of camp. Everyone had gone off, seeing as she was the only queen she did feel a little left out, but she didn't complain about it. She wasn't one to complain at small things like this. She let her gaze droop and felt her muscles relax a bit, stress was not good for a queen, or so she heard. Her striking blue eyes glistened as the sun fully fell into camp now. Turning her pelt a snow colored white and her grey smudges ash colored, not looking any less elegant than before. Getting rather bored of just sitting there she got to her paws, ever so slowly. Her pink nose twitched at the weight, her silky whiskers fluttering with the twitch. Her ears flicked forward as she glanced around.
Was there anything she could do to pass the time? She could fix her bedding, which did require a little adventure outside camp. It didn't seem like she would get caught though, and the kits weren't quite ready to ome out yet. Her tail flicked with delight at the thought of a small stroll. Turning she headed back into the nursery, using her paw to swiped to the moss from her nest into a close pile. Then nudging it out of the entrance and out into camp. Straining herself a bit to pick up the moss on her mouth she padded along quickly out of camp. The fresh forest air brushed against her flank, and her eyes smiled. Dropping off the moss she walked further in to look for more moss. There was always some by the stream. Moving along as quick as she could manage she soon came upon the stream. Bending down and grabing a big clump of moss in her jaws and walkng back slowly.
She knew Wingedheart would not approve of her being out of camp, but she had a need for a little adventure. Trotting back into camp, still no one was back yet. Her eyes twinkled triumphantly as she walked back into the nursery, dropping the moss on the floor, she used her paw to spread it out. Turning she was about to head back out into the camp when a body almost crashed into her. She back up in time to miss getting bumped. "Whoa, hey there, gorgeous."
She lifted her gaze to Dogshadow, who seemed in an ok mood today. She smiled politly and looked down at the rabbit. Tilting her head slightly, rabbits were hard if impossible to find. Flicking her gaze back to him she dipped her head. "I see hunting was productive. Its good of you to stop by." she mewed in her soft and gentle voice before picking up the rabbit and walking past him out side the nursery. She felt his tongue on her shoulder in a hello and she paused to return the lick to his cheek. Dropping the mouse she slowly slide to her stomach, rolling on her side so not to smash the kits inside her. Curling her tail around her body she nibbled at the rabbit. "You been feeling all right?" she lifted her head to him, resting her gaze on him for a moment before going back to her prey. "Ive been alright, this little ones have some mighty kicks. It won't be long now." she mewed pausing to lick her lips. Turning her gaze to her stomach, her eyes softened. "Do you want to feel?" she mewed a hint of affection in her voice as she flicked her tail to her stomach.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub]

Dogshadow's long legs stretched a little as he looked around and started walking again, thinking of how irritated he'd been at the stupid members of his patrol. Who did they think they were? He was sure that Wingedheart had put them up to their lousy tricks. She had it out for him, he knew it. Of course, she had very good reason to, but he wouldn't put obsession past her, the annoying little twit. She'd been jealous of his skills as a warrior, knowing that if anyone should've been deputy, it should've been him, and he was serious competition. Then again, that wasn't the only reason she hated him and he hated her. They had a mutual relationship, one that was going to end up with either of them dead. That annoying little she-cat thought she could get away with snooping around and stalking him, like she thought he'd pull something. The tom's lip curled in disgust. What was he, some rogue to be watched?
She'd pay for being so insolent to him. Dogshadow pushed those thoughts from his mind when he saw Lilybreeze, trying not to allow himself to sink into bad thinking while she was around. He didn't want a repeat experience, like that with Wingedheart and her precious friends. "I see hunting was productive. Its good of you to stop by." He cocked his head and pushed it toward her, saying with a quick smirk, "Yes, very. It's almost always like that with me." Yes, he was rather arrogant, but that was what he was like and Lilybreeze could deal. He was much too dedicated of a mate for her to be able to complain anyway. At least, that's how he saw it in his mind. "I'm just checking up on you and the kits." He murmured, flicking his ears at her swollen belly.
He couldn't wait until they were born. Those were going to be some of the most talented kits in the clan. Heck, if one of them was apprenticed to him, it would be even better. Then again, with Wingedheart as deputy, that probably wouldn't happen. "I've been alright, this little ones have some mighty kicks. It won't be long now. Do you want to feel?" His eyes flicked up to her as he felt delight lit up like fire. He didn't get invitations like that often, even though Lilybreeze was a kind little thing. The great tom picked up a paw and placed it against her belly, holding it there lightly. When raised in anger, it could do so much damage. The claws were savage, stained with blood, but they looked unbearable peaceful, resting there, against her belly. Dogshadow did indeed feel a kick and pulled back, feeling pleased as he announced, "Feels like they'll be good and strong, just like their father." He winked broadly at her. "And beautiful, like their mother, of course."

Lilybreeze Lily let her striking blue gaze rest on Dogshadow a moment as he seemed pretty pleased with his catch himself. Which she wasn't surprised, he was almost always proud of himself and his abilities and he let no one else forget that either. Stretching out her legs she arched her head to lick at them evenly, keeping her gaze on her legs as her tongue ran absently over them, making them glossy and smooth. She heard him approach closer and her ears flicked forward to catch his words, seeing as he'd be mighty upset if she did not listen to him. "Yes, very. It's almost always like that with me."
She pursed her lips to stop from smiling. It was like she said, tilting her head up towards him she let the smile ease out softly. "Confidence is definatly something you do not lack, Dogshadow." she mewed silkily before propping herself on her legs, her tail curling around her swollen frame. "I'm just checking up on you and the kits." Lily nodded slowly in understanding, most fathers were like this, and though he sometimes tried to hide it, she knew he was anxious. She saw as he indicated her swollen stomach, she looked at it again for a moment and smiled. Something about just thinking of the kits made her soften uncontrollibly. It was true Lily was meant to be a mother, and she knew she would protect her kits as long as she could. She drited dreamily from her thoughts and watched Dogshadows eyes lit up with her offer. It was times like this when she really did love Dogshadow, he had his gentler moments, ones that she had only seen. Purring softly she watched as his usually mighty paws rested delicatly on her body. She felt the kick, as did he and he backed away happily. "Feels like they'll be good and strong, just like their father." Lily let out a soft giggle as she slowly pushed herself onto her paws. She knew it was not long now, she could definatly feel it. Her faded grey mask glistened against her creamy fur as she pushed up close to him. It was rare for really intimate moments between them, so she took this opportunity. She purred softly and licked his cheek. "And beautiful, like their mother, of course." Lily blinking softly at the tom. "Let us hope so." she mewed delightedly as she rested her head on his shoulder. Her eyes slowly closed as she just relaxed there a moment. Suddenly a spasm was sent through her and she gasped, lifting her head quickly. And then another went through her frame, and she lowered herself to the ground. Her striking blue eyes shot up to him, worried and yet almost excited. "The kits, Dogshadow the kits, they are here!" she looked around quickly for a familar pelt of the medicine cat. A harsh spasm went through her and her stomach jolted. She gritted her teeth in pain. "Wheres Sunstorm?!"[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub]

"Where's Sunstorm?!"
The mew echoed out into the camp, and several cats turned their heads towards the nursery. The cat in question however, did not move from her spot right away; instead, Sunstorm was focusing on the sky above her, staring up at the birds with a lost look in her eyes. To anyone else, it would seem as if the tagged she-cat was insane, and well, she was in some regards, but to her, it was something magnificent to watch - no, feel. She was the bird right now. Her conscious flew with it, over the trees, watching the ground carefully to avoid any sharp claws that may be hidden from view.
It was finally when an angry warrior tapped her on the shoulder that Sunstorm came around. She whipped her head towards him, her eyes narrowing to slits, "What is it?!" she snapped, hissing in disdain. Her trance had been broken, her happiness shortlived. The warrior tom rolled his eyes and calmly stated that Lilybreeze was having kits. "Oh, fox-dung! Why didn't anybody tell me?" Sunstorm roared. Without further hesitation, the she-cat rushed to her den and disappeared under the ground. Moments later, she reappeared with a bundle of herbs.
"No time to be wasted," she muttered incoherently through her mouthful. She padded over to the nursery cheerily, excited to see the kits just as much as the mother probably was. Oh how she relished the moments new life was brought into the clan! However, with the sweetness that filled her heart, a bitter taste always followed. She would never feel the same joy as Lilybreeze; she would never, ever, have a mate or kits....
"Dogshadow," Sunstorm greeted, dipping her head. "From past experience, I find it better when the anxious fathers do not stick around. It's up to you whether you stay or not, but I will cuff you over the ears if you distract me in any way. Got it?"
It was a well known fact that Sunstorm had moodswings, though she conveniently had them more often with warriors and apprentices she didn't like, and while she didn't notice it, surely the rest of the clan did...
"Lilybreeze, lay down in this nest. Make yourself as comfortable as possible, and chew on these leaves," Sunstorm ordered, guiding the she-cat towards the back of the nursery with a gentle tail. Once everything was in order, Sunstorm put her paw to Lily's stomach. "You have at least two kits ready to deliver. Just bare with me Lilybreeze."
Sunstorm started to chew up leaves into a poultice, and spread it on Lily's stomach. Hopefully, the juices would relieve some of the muscle stress and allow the kits to be born in a less painful manner. Still, Sunstorm knew from her experience with this in the past, that it would still be hard for Lilybreeze, and no doubt, her screams would make Sunstorm's ears ring for the next moon.

"Let us hope so." She purred and licked his cheek, making him blush under his fur. Yes, he was very confident and quite self-absorbed, but there wasn't anything that could change the fact that her lick had made him warm inside. He'd never admit that, of course, because that was admitting a weakness and Dogshadow would never do that. But if there was anything he had that came close to being a weakness, it was probably the fact that he did adore his Lilybreeze, if only because she was "his" and his alone. She'd never betray him and she bore his kits without a complaint. The she-cat was practically under his control and loved it, as far as he could tell. Not that she knew anything and he planned on keeping it that way. Which meant getting rid of Wingedheart, but the least amount of blood he could keep off his paws, the better. Especially now that he was a dad and had to father kits. Couldn't raise any properly with bloody paws.
"The kits, Dogshadow the kits, they are here!" Her words and gasps all but stopped his heart. He stared at her for two whole heartbeats, unsure of what he was supposed to do before whipping around and yowling for the medicine cat, his voice all but drowning hers out, coming out in a snarling roar that echoed around the camp. The medicine cat came running, saying a bunch of stuff that he basically missed, because he was too busy making sure that she got to Lilybreeze and pronto. Sunstorm's words made him stiffen and he glared at her. He was promptly dismissed and had to stalk away, irritated. Dogshadow did not take well to being ordered around and shot a look at the she-cat, so she'd know that he wasn't liking this at all. Pacing around the area near to where Lilybreeze was, Dogshadow grimaced. He wanted these kits, badly. They might be his key to success. The warrior tried not to growl at anyone.

Lilybreeze Lily rested her head on the floor, her chest rose and fell quickly with labored breaths. She glanced up at Dogshadow who was looking for Sunstorm, and pawsteps could be heard behind her. But she had no strength to look around, all she could do and would do was focus on her kits. Just breathe.... She told herself mentally and started to take deeper breaths. In out in out. Her chest fell into rhythm with her mind as she concentrated. A sharp pain ran through her stomach and she gritted her teeth against it, she may look fragile but she was far from it. Suddenly a familar scent of herbs and suck entered her glands and with a look of relief she noticed the medicine cat. She shooed Dogshadow away and began to examine her. Her ears flicked forwards to listen to her instruction eagerly.
Suddenly the medicine cat was nudging her gently to her paws and was leading her back to the nursery. She leaned against the medicine cat as she walked and slid into the nest that was instructed. Making sure to rest on her side she panted, her gaze wide with worry. What if something went wrong?
"Lilybreeze, lay down in this nest. Make yourself as comfortable as possible, and chew on these leaves,"
Lily looked up at the leaves that now rested by her head. She lapped at them and chewed them as instructed. The taste was slightly bitter but she did not complain. Another spasm and she had to quickly swallow the leaves juice. "You have at least two kits ready to deliver. Just bare with me Lilybreeze." Lily turned her striking blue eyes to the female and nodded. "Sunstorm....Th..thankyou." she managed through labored breaths as as soon as there was a contraction she instictivly pushed. Taking a deep breath and grinding her teeth. After a few long pushes a pale grey colored tom kit slid out. Mewing, Lily's eyes softened as she looked at her son and with her tail she nudged him towards her belly. The sound of suckling was heard and she sighed. One was alright. She licked at his fur to clean him but stoped abruptly when another spasm shook her frame. She felt it contract and again pushed, breathing heavily as a slender white shape slid out next. A female. She heaved a sigh of relief as she again guiding the kit towards her stomach. Licking at her fur to clean her just as she had done to her brother. She knew Sunstorm would examine the kits to make sure everything was ok, she hoped it was. hey seemed healthy but what did she know. Licking at both of her kits lovingly she stared up at Sunstorm, smiling lightly. She was done. "Cinderkit, the grey one, and Icekit the white one." she mewed gently licking each kits head in turn. "Do you know where Wingedheart is? Or......Barkstar...." she mewed wanting them to see the kits, almost forgetting about Dogshadow completly.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub]

Wingedheart came into the camp after her long hunt, ears flat against her head. She was not happy. The patrol leader had told her that Dogshadow had gone off on his own again. That was not a good sign. It could mean that he was off, killing someone else again, or at least prepping to do so. She had to struggle to keep her hackles down and her lips over her fangs. There was a part of her that just wanted to rip into Dogshadow, take him apart limb by miserable, murdering limb. The other part of her knew that she might be just jumping to conclusions, but that had been his scent she had found at Dovesong's death site. She knew it. She'd know his scent anywhere now. There wasn't a single fern frond or pine resin that could hide him from her now and every cat in the clan was her eye. She would find him, no matter where he hide, the miserable piece of foxdung. If he thought he could sneak off and ruin another cat's life, she wasn't having it.
Wingedheart was diverted from her thoughts, however, when she heard that very tom calling for Sunstorm and saw the medicine go rushing over and transfer a gasping Lilybreeze to the nursery. She dropped her fresh-kill on the ground and sprang forward, all kinds of images rushing through her mind. She slammed into Dogshadow, demanding to know what was going on when he blocked her from getting into the nursery. If you've hurt her, I swear- She stared into his eyes with orbs that promised vengeance. She would take him down if he'd put a paw on Lilybreeze. The tom snarled at her, saying angrily, "She's having her kits, foxbrain!" He said nothing else and she broke away from him, and circled, pushing her way into the den, knowing the medicine cat would either throw her out or give her the good news, which she wanted really bad. Lilybreeze needed some good news and so did she. Seeing the kits, her heart melted in her chest. "Oh, Lily.. They're adorable!" She gazed down at them, and felt like she was watching Dovesong have Caramelpaw all over again.
~~
Furious, Dogshadow glared at the she-cat as she pushed past him, the nosy little brat of a deputy. How she had gotten that position that was rightfully his was beyond him. The angry black and white tom sat down, trying to calm down too. He had no love for Wingedheart, none at all, and the part of him that wanted her dead and in the ground was a very big part. She was too smart for her own good. She had this look in her pretty little eyes, like she thought she knew what he was up to. That whiny she-cat, she had no idea. But if she did- then he was in major trouble and Dogshadow couldn't have any of that. He'd practically had a dream last night about taking her down, putting her lights out and shutting her up for good. It had been one of the best dreams he'd had in moons and when he had woken up, he'd been in the best mood. Of course, it had been properly ruined by Wingedheart putting him on that patrol. He growled to himself, got to his paws, and stalked away, going to get himself something to eat. He was sure Lilybreeze was all right and he'd go and see his kits once that she-cat his mate called a friend left.
OOC; I'm assuming that Lilybreeze heard him muttering in his sleep during that dream? Just thought I'd set that up. =)

"Sunstorm....Th..thankyou." Lilybreeze muttered through labored breaths. Sunstorm nodded, knowing that the thanks was genuine, but there was no time to waste here. Kitting was a dangerous business if it wasn't handled properly, and Sunstorm could only pray that no vision haunted her as she did her work. Thankfully, Lilybreeze made the job much easier, as she instinctively pushed on every contraction.
Soon, the first kit came out. Quickly, Sunstorm set about warming the kit by removing him from the liquid sack he was born in and licking him dry. They were small kits, and so the process did not take long, and Sunstorm did want to leave some of the process to the mother as well, as it would be the first time she would bond with her kits. Lilybreeze took over the job of the first kit as it suckled away at her belly, but stopped abruptly when another spasm shook her frame.
Next was a small white female kit, and Sunstorm started the same process, until the kit was warm and squealing for its mother's milk. Sunstorm smiled at the kits, and then at Lily, "They're beautiful," she said whimsically. There was never a moment when Sunstorm didn't appreciate new life... but with these experiences came sorrow. This would never be her joy. She would never have kits.
"Cinderkit, the grey one, and Icekit the white one." Lily mewed gently licking each kits head in turn.
"May StarClan light their paths and make them honorable warriors in the next moons," Sunstorm responded. "Who knows, perhaps one of them would like to become a medicine cat!" she joked, though, it wasn't a total satire either. Sunstorm was eagerly awaiting the day where she would have her own apprentice. It might be the closest she would ever have to having her own kit... in a sense.
"Do you know where Wingedheart is? Or......Barkstar...." she mewed, breaking Sunstorm's thoughts.
"I don't know about Wingedheart, but Barkstar should be in his den. I'll fetch him for you after I finish checking up on everything, though, I strongly believe these kits will be fine."
Thankfully, Wingedheart came in moments later, and Sunstorm gladly stepped out of the way to let the two friends share their joy. She purred at the sight, and then gave a brief message to Wingedheart to watch Lilybreeze for a few moments while she went to get Barkstar.
Sunstorm padded out of the nursery, the sun warming her fur almost immediately. Another purr rose from her chest as she nodded to fellow Clanmates to assure them that the kitting was a success. However, there was one face missing from the crowed: Dogshadow. Suddenly, unease gripped Sunstorm's heart. Though she knew nothing of Dogshadow's tyranny, she had had visions about him, and though her advice was to not listen to every sight she had, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was up with that cat.
Shaking off the disturbances in her mind, Sunstorm padded to Barkstar's den; there was no need to act dreadful. New kits were just born after all! "Barkstar!" Sunstorm called. "Lilybreeze would like you to see her kits! They're as beautiful as she is!"
