Rumors. The water is the killer of so many cats now. Rumors. No, not no more. The water was killing, making cats sick and Heatherpaw was stuck in the middle. Not having to eat fish as much as the rest, she looked down into the depth of the river as she remembered moons ago, when the river had been healthy and how the clan had, had tones of food. The sun tickled her pelt as she studied the world around her, of course, of course she would come here and not the other border. Who would want to be near that border, her stomach growled painfully, and she turned her head at the snap of a twig. Mouse, fresh, plump just inside the Thunderclan border. Mouth watering she dropped into her best, thunderclan crouch and stalked forward. Paws hitting the ground rather loudly. The mouse's ears shot up and bolted, stupidly, towards the nose. Heatherpaw yowled in happiness and pounced, biting deep into the mouse's neck killing it. When she looked up she was in the beginning of the trees around her. Whiskers dropped, happiness vanishing. "No... please Starclan, don't let me get caught." She turned ever so swiftly, picking the mouse up and rushing towards the clearing and the rocks, where she dropped the mouse in slight relief.

Sapphirepaw sulked toward the river, she was in a bad mood. Then again sence becoming an apprentice she was always in a bad mood, mostly because of her traitorous father and siblings. She hissed in annoyace as she thought back to the day her father turned his back on her mother, on his clan, on his family, and on her. He had wanted her to join him in his murderous plot, but she had refused, now she was contantly looking behind her. He had warned her that one day he would come after her and her mother. Of course now he only had her to come after, on the day of her apprenticeship her mother was found in the river. Everyone said it had to have been an accident, but Sapphirepaw knew better. Suddenly Sapphirepaw heard a yowl of triumph and reconized Heatherpaws scent. and the scent of mouse. Sapphirepaw peeked through some branches and saw that Heatherpaw was just barely inside Thunderclan border... holding a freshly killed mouse. She started to pad toward her clanmate.

"No... please Starclan, don't let me get caught."

Sapphirepaw snorted as she stepped out from nearby bushes, feeling her stomach growl evily. "Keep your fur on heatherpaw its just me" she said in a not so friendly voice. She hated seeing happiness, for she knew she could not experiance it. "If you had been watching where your paws touched the ground, you wouldnt have crossed the border. Nor would you have had to worry about getting caught." Sapphirepaw snickered sitting down.
