Icepool’s fur is a silky, glossy, midnight hue. If light were to be set upon it, it would hardly light up. Her fur is unlike some blacks – meaning, when it is shown in the sunlight, instead of adding a reddish hightlight (or shade, however you wish to look at this) it wouldn’t show up as a “rust” color; just black, like the night sky.
Her pelt is long, longer than most, and gives her an added advantage in leaf-bare when the snow piles up and the river freezes over, keeping most warriors penned up inside their dens while she is able to run about and hopefully find food. Though she is at a slight disadvantage; her black pelt means she would have to hide against a tree or under a bush to find prey in leaf-bare instead of stalking around the territory.
Her paws are small; so small that she sometimes has trouble holding onto things such as prey, or leaves for the medicine cat den or to fortify the nursery. Her paws are useful to the extent that she can step quietly and stalk like a ShadowClan warrior amongst the leaves and shrubbery, sneaking up upon unsuspecting prey. She rather enjoys this part of her body, her paws, because it lets her remember that fighting is never necessary to defend your Clan.
Her ears are large and have hairs sticking off of the top, giving her the advantage of being able to take in more sound in the surrounding bushes, and to hear over the river, in case a kit may have fallen in; she enjoys that she has a heightened hearing, no matter how much she may get made fun of for it.

Icepool is an extremely caring cat. It isn’t her young age that makes her so gentle toward every cat, no matter what their Clan – it’s her heart. Despite her younger age, so young for a medicine cat, Icepool prefers to look at every side of the leaf before deciding how best to handle the situations that are presented to her. Whether it’s bickers between Clans or two apprentices, Icepool prefers to calmly assess a situation. Conflict or not, Icepool has learned that rushing into things sometimes has dire results; rushing into battle once, as she had tried being a warrior apprentice first, caused her to almost lose her life against a rogue. Only if she is emotionally involved in something will she sometimes break her “wise-streak” to act rashly.

Her heart is always in the right place! Well, mostly. Icepool gets small heartaches from time to time; her father had always coached her and tried to nudge her in the right direction. She wasn’t particularly close to her mother, who is in the elder’s den, but respects the decisions of her parents to not stay mates for long. She’s quite happy with how she lives, but is always going to wish her father had been there to guide her further. She had hardly been an apprentice before he had died after greencough – he had already been weak after saving her, the foolish apprentice, from the rogue. He had been severely wounded, but could have healed with battle scars if he had not caught the illness. Coldstone, despite his name, had been Icepool’s hero. He helped her with everything, and always praised her even if she didn’t catch any prey or failed at something; he made her feel special. He was like that to her and her sister, Frostfall. She knew he loved them both, and she hated herself for being so idiotic.

Icepool considers herself very close to her two siblings, Snowpaw and Frostfall. They had all been named after the bitter cold that destroyed the territory and left them wondering if they could ever have a good meal again; but Icepool prefers to think of it as a great honor to be named after something so fierce and untamed. She likes to think of them as standing for something greater than the unwanted chill, the reason cats and kits die. Icepool thinks of their names as reminding everyone that the snow and chill lets the territory replenish itself for a beautiful newleaf, then greenleaf – reminding that the winter should be a blessing, and lets warriors prove their skills to be able to feed their Clan in even the harshest conditions.
She relies on her littermate, Frostfall, to help her out whenever she needs it. It doesn’t matter if she just needs to ask a question or talk about their father or mother or how the prey is running; she loves her sister. Her younger sister, whom she shares a father with, is close to her, but Icepool considers her slightly too young to be hanging out with her all the time, though she tries to spend enough time with her, since she is interested in the daughter of her father and a she-cat she did not know well, Thrushwind. Though both are deceased, Icepool feels unnerved that she did not get to know her half-sister’s mother well. She usually pushes negative thoughts back, preferring to keep her head in any situation, as mentioned above.
Overall, Icepool loves her siblings and the company they offer. More importantly, she likes the companionship and closeness of a sibling bond. It’s something she wouldn’t trade for the world.

Icepool sometimes doubts her belief in StarClan. After all, if they were as wonderful as they are made out, how can then stand by while Clans have wars and how come they can’t do anything about Twolegs? Part of her realizes that she’s being like a spoiled kit, though she knows that the Clans aren’t meant to sit around like kittypets. Warriors have claws for a reason – to protect, even if it means risking your life to do so. Icepool is extremely suspicious of the Clan leaders, as she’s learned that some cats will try to thinly disguise a threat at a Gathering. No matter how respected a leader may be, Icepool would claw their muzzles off if they tried to threaten RiverClan’s hunting grounds. She just wants the best for her Clan, but won’t tolerate ignorance and pompous over-confident cats thinking they can step all over other Clans. She’d voice her opinion if she felt she could win in a verbal battle.
She likes to believe there’s a higher calling – that there’s more to being in a Clan than just hunting and fighting, killing and maiming. She loves the idea of healing warriors, caring for kits and queens, helping to ease the pain and suffering as best she can. As silly as it is, taking care of cats seems to be what Icepool needs to relieve herself of the nagging guilt she has that her father’s death was her fault. No one has ever really said it, but she knows they have to be thinking the same thing: it’s all her fault that they lost a valuable warrior.

While all of the above describe Icepool, there’s more to her than this. Icepool tries her hardest to be happy, cheerful, around other cats. She always puts on a brave face, willing herself to be as happy as she hopes she appears to other cats. No matter what Clan they are in, Icepool is always willing to make a new friend and share stories and exchange greetings and gossip about the latest Clan drama. Icepool considers herself luckier than her Clan mates – unlike them, she enjoys brushing pelts with the unfamiliar and unknown. She wants to just be happy and content, lying in the sun in the middle of a hot day, instead of snarky and battle-hungry, waiting for the next chance to sink her fangs into the soft flesh of a warrior.

The light filtered through the thick interwoven branches of the nursery. A slight breeze worked its way through, bringing the fresh scent of the water, prey, and the promise of a warm day. Inside, nestled in down feathers and fresh moss, a gray she-cat stirred; it was time to wake up.
The queen slowly lifted her head, blinking the sleep from her sharp yellow eyes. Graypool looked about her, eyes softening when she saw the shells and random shiny objects casting pale flickering lights on the top of the nursery. The warriors and queens often found strange things about and wove them into the walls of the nursery to entertain the kits.
It was a beautiful effect, and Graypool felt a small burst of pride; the other Clans wouldn't have a nursery as beautiful as this for their kits, the futures of their Clans. But then again, they didn't live with the water outside their dens, the fresh, clean feeling of the water through their fur.
The young queen stood up slowly, ignoring the slight protest of her muscles as she dragged herself out of her nest; she had only been in the nursery for a few nights, and already she missed the warriors den. But, there was no changing the facts that she had gotten pregnant. She couldn't and wouldn't change this part of her life, but she was missing out on so much by being in the nursery.
Graypool blinked as she left the nursery; her sister was heading straight toward her, an urgent, if not nearly frantic, look upon her face.
"Graypool! Can I talk to you for a few minutes? It’s really important.” Willowbreeze looked almost anxious, and Graypool blinked once more, thoughts of going out to walk forgotten. “Do you know why Oakheart has been staring over at ThunderClan’s territory a lot recently? I just saw him and he was just staring.”
The slender she-cat froze at the last part of the question. Was it a test? Was there some hidden answer? Graypool thought not; Willowbreeze was merely being too suspicious of her own Clan mates, though.. Graypool couldn't help the twinge of unease that coursed through her.
She liked Oakheart. They had been somewhat close, though with recent moons it had started to wither until Graypool was left wondering if a StarClan cat had come and replaced her friend. He had changed. Of course he was still joking, laughing Oakheart, but there was a shadow around his face whenever she looked at him. Something bugged him, and Graypool had respected him enough to not ask about it.
"I'm not sure," Graypool replied honestly. "If he wanted to break the warrior code, fine by me. If he has a friend over there, I see nothing wrong with it; your friends, or mates, don't decide your complete loyalty to your Clan nor does it determine your place within your Clan. Or, rather, it shouldn't. Let Oakheart make his own choices," she added quietly, looking down at her paws.
