SHORT APPEARANCE
A small brown and white male with dark brown eyes with a tint of honey at the corner of his left eye.[/sub]
APPEARANCE
First, let’s start on Mousenose's face. He has a very octagon shaped face with dark chocolate stripes on the side of his head. The chocolate colored stripes form a crisp ‘M’ on the top of his forehead. Mousenose has different shades of brown close to his nose and eyes; two white circles around his eyes and dark black lining his eyes. He always has this neutral expression on his face, so it is very hard to tell what is on his mind. Mousenose's eyes are almond shaped, the color of his eyes lovely dark pools of chocolate, sometimes confused with black. He has a tint of a honey color in the corner of his left eye, which is very rare. Mousenose's nose is very small; it is a small triangle, filled with a dim auburn color which almost looks like dark leather. He has two dark circles on the side of his nose and three small circles below. His ears are almost black with different shades of brown on the inside of his ear. Mousenose's ears are rounded on the edge which help him stand out from the other cats who have very pointed and tail ears. His whiskers are short thin and consist of a beautiful bright white color, as white as freshly fallen snow. His lips are the same auburn color as his nose, and he doesn’t have very sharp teeth. He isn't much of a fighter, and so his two front teeth are not really considered fangs - they are small and short - but his teeth are very well taken care of.[/sub]
Mousenose is small, not as small as a newly made apprentice, but as small as an older, female apprentice. His features are small because he was the runt of the family, hint the prefix of his name. Although his features are small and he is rather short to the ground, Mousenose happens to have a long body. Mousenose's paws are a soft white. Brown spots can be found blended on the front paws, and two brown spots can be seen on the back of his paw. He has soft cocoa bean color on his pads and on his right front paw he has a huge dark chocolate spot right below the center pad. His body covered with dark brown fur, with tiny bits of lighter shades of brown mixed together. His fur is thin, long, and bristled, almost like wired hairs. Mousenose has white stockings on all but his back left leg. The back left leg is a dark brown color, just like the rest of his body. His tail is a small stub, dark chocolate with tiny tips of gold.
Lastly, we have the unique markings and scars across Mousenose's body. The only scars that the male has to show are tiny scars on his right back leg - when he was little he got caught in a fishing rod wire, so there are differently sized nicks and small scars along his right back leg; but other than that, the rest of the scars are barely noticeable. You can only tell if you do a close examination. One last feature can be his birthmark - he has one white spot near his rear. It is small, but can be very visible to other cats.
PERSONALITY
Mousenose may be small in size, but his personality is big. He tries to treat everyone equal, but can have a bit of temper. He does not like cats that keep asking questions about what he is going to do next, he likes to get the job done and move on the next job he has. He is very hard working and likes to plan out ahead. His mood is very natural; you cannot really tell what is on his mind. He is not a quiet cat, but he is not a loud cat either. Mousenose is a very good listener and an observer - he kind of gets irritated if he has to repeats himself but is very patient. When he has something important to say, you better shut up and listen; because when Mousenose talks it usually is important. He sometimes forgets how to have fun and relax, but in his world there is no time to relax and have fun - he has to keep working and working. He might even sometimes stay up day and night to get his work done. Although he won't let himself get over-worked, so when Mousenose feels that he needs to rest he will choose a time and a day to rest and he will sleep for hours. He is a deep sleeper, so if you have to get him up - you practically have to yell at him to wake the tom up.[/sub]
Furthermore, he likes to spend time with other cats, he likes being alone but only when he is thinking and had a very long day. But company is very nice; especially when it is cats that he has known for awhile, but it does not bother him when other cats around the clan talk to him. You can find Mousenose near the lake, where he is collecting herbs. He is always restocking. Mousenose loves kits and apprentices. He always found them very interesting and it always gives him hope when he talks to the kits and apprentices about how they dream of so many things. Mousenose is actually a very happy cat; it just he was raised to never really show is emotions. He doesn't have trouble showing them - he just chooses not to. Mousenose is a very good teacher, although for the apprentice - it would not be very fun. Mousenose is always working, so if he has an apprentice he will work the apprentice to his/her last strength. Which can be a very bad thing, but it is also good for the apprentice because within weeks he will learn every single herb.
The reason why Mousenose is a hard worker is because when he was an apprentice, he had to work twice as hard as the other apprentices because his mentor wasn't the most patient medicine cat and he was very clumsy when he was small, he basically had to prove himself he had to do more stuff then the other apprentices. He couldn't be a warrior, because of his size and the training was too difficult for him - since Mousenose had difficult understanding the concepts of being a warrior; so the medicine cat took him as her own. So hard work is very important to Mousenose - it shows that he is not just a cat who treats cats, it shows that he is cable of doing something other then messing up on something.
Although that doesn't mean Mousenose will not fight, since he is really serious of his job he will fight for the wounded and the sick - he does prefer to not shed blood, but only when it is needed. He hates being interrupted when he is working and will have a tiny fit or a rampage if he is interrupted by something so less important then what he is doing at the moment. Mousenose does have patience, it just that he is so short tempered; it is hard to to tell if he even has patience.
Do not get him wrong, he is not all crabby - he is very nice, it just that he takes his work seriously. He speaks softly to his patients and tells them not to worry about anything. He wants his patients to be relaxed and secured, so if you are all panicking he might lash at you and knock you out of the medicine cat den. His patient happiness is his happiness - even if he does not show it. He is very organized and does not like things out of place - he is very quick to think when it is needed and he can be very demanding when it is needed.
All in all, Mousenose is just a very hard working cat - although there are times where you will find him relaxed in camp or even outside of camp. His thoughts are very precious to him and you better shut up when he has something to say. He does sometimes forgets to stop working so much, so you do have to remind him about what it was to be like an apprentice. He is very young for his age for acting so mature - but it is hard when you never know what is going to happen in the clan. He is always prepared and even if you can't always tell what he is thinking or feeling; if you ask, he will tell you the truth. He has very high advice to everyone and tends to like to keep his own problems away from everyone, but he is a good friend to keep and you will never forget his big heart he has for the clan.
HISTORY
Mousenose was clan born - his genetics of how he has a small tail was very rare, but he was the runt of the family. He was the family of four, not including his parents and him. He had one brother and three sisters, his mother and father were proud warriors. When he was born on August 28, he was barely going to make it. When he was a kit - he was the one who had less milk than everyone and it was a life and death situation, because he was growing weak. It was a good thing - his parents loved him or else he would have not survived. Mousenose was in the medicine cat den for days along with his siblings, because apparently his mother couldn't produce enough milk for all of her kits. Some wondered if Mousenose would ever made it through his five weeks. But he did make it. As the other queen only had one kit, and thus had milk to spare, the medicine cat suggested the queen take care of Mousenose. So Mousenose survived the first five weeks. But he was always smaller then his siblings and it always bugged him because he would get pushed and almost trampled on when play fighting; sometimes his mother would not let him even fight with his siblings because she was worried about his size.[/sub]
By the time he was an apprentice, he was still small and had trouble understanding the concept of being a warrior. All of his siblings were all advanced on fighting skills and he was still learning the basics. His father and mother grew worried and had to talk with leader to figure out what was best for the clan and for Mousenose.
Soon they decided that it was best for Mousenose to become a medicine cat. Mousenose first refused and said he would become better, but his parents said it would be best for him. So, Dawnlight took Mousenose as an apprentice and even though Dawnlight had no patience for Mousenose; Mousenose soon proved himself to his family and the clan that he was a good medicine cat apprentice.
Training for a medicine cat was actually pretty easy for him - he earned his medcine cat's name and he was determined to make his mentor even happier by working twice as hard. He was shown respect by his siblings and no one seemed to make fun of him and his parents were very proud of him. The most impact memory that changed his life was when he was out having fun with his siblings and two brand new warriors - they were playing by the lake until they heard a cry. It was a kit; the kit followed them out of camp and towards the lake. It was sad day for Mousenose, because instead of taking action he panicked. He just stared in horror as the kit tried to swim back to the shore, his older brother jumped into the water saving the kit - and even then Mousenose panicked - he couldn't think straight which caused the kit to die from swallowing too much water.
His mentor shunned him instead of saying "it was alright - you tried your best." his parents said nothing to him and his siblings were practically mad at him for not saving the kit, telling he would never be a good medicine cat.
It was then on, he would take his job seriously - no more playing around and no more messing around. Although this impacted him largely, it made him a better medicine cat and from then on; he made sure no other cat remembered what happened that day. His mentor died of old age and what made him always remember her and how he was Riverclan's medicine cat was what Dawnlight said to him, "Thank you, Mousenose. You did a great job! Riverclan has a good medicine cat; I hope one day you will be able to have an apprentice of your own. I am glad to have you as my apprentice, Riverclan is lucky to have you. Take care and I will always be with you when you are in trouble."
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE
Mousenose padded in the camp as he looked at the clouded sky, snow began to fall gently covering the ground. The small tom looked side to side just outside his medicine cat den and then walked towards the fresh-kill. He took a deep breath and grabbed a small peice of silver fish. Its scales reflecting the sun; he pulled the skin off and bit into the soft pink meat.[/sub]
Mousenose was running herbs down a list in his thoughts, ...Mousebile, cobwebs, yarrow, honey, and poppyseeds. He sighed and looked around for anyone to talk to but no one was inside, Mousenose shook his head softly and headed out of camp to collect some herbs he needed. The rush of wind blew gently across Riverclan territory. The snow covered half of the ground when Mousenose reached the herb grounds, the trail he left was small circles two cat tails away from each other.
After collecting herbs for awhile, Mousenose shook the snow off of his pelt and stared out into the open before starting back towards camp. He mumbled something to himself and settled the herbs in an organized way. He looked around and checked on the mixer before heading off to check on a queen. "How are you doing Nightwatcher?" he asked gently as he sniffed her gently and then gave her some poppyseeds for her cramps. She smiled gently and licked up the poppyseeds. "I will check on you tomorrow, you look well today."
Mousenose headed over to the elders and started chatting with them, the snow fell gently and he listened to the elders' stories.
